Ronghua: The immortal flowers

A documentary on how traditionally handicraft elements can be rejuvenated by modern design.

João Paulo Guedes is a fast emerging Toronto-based Brazilian Canadian fashion designer. His designs are inspired by art, media and images all around us. He takes these inspirations and creates his own custom prints that are worked into clothing that use exclusive textiles and fabrics from around the world.

João was invited to design a piece of garment using a traditional Chinese handicraft- Ronghua (“Velvet Flower”) as the main element. We directed and documented the process.
